MISSION
To open and validate masters and doctorate programs to maintain the necessity of the educators for faculty and collages which have an education programme in health sciences in our university and the other developing universities. To enhance the knowledge and skills of the graduate Students and help them to find jobs in a competative market more easily.

VISION
To open some programs to educate individuals who can concorde to the global world, can forefront the scientific perspective and has the occupational knowledge which is proper to the era and to provide this appropriate education atmosphere. To educate staffs  who can make a project in his field and can evaluate the data obtained from his studies.

QUALITY CONCEPT
Our principle is to maintain a high success criterion from the commencement of the educational programs of the student until the graduation. Furthermore, we elaborate to provide coordination betveen the departments to evaluate the quality of the education programme.

RESOURCES
All the graduate schools (institutes) within Erciyes University are located at Nuri and Zekiye Has Building of Institutes. Approximately, 1500 square meters of building space has been allocated to the Institute of Health Sciences. This space possesses offices for adsministrative staff as well as classrooms and a conferance hall with a capacity of 110 people. 2 computer terminals with internet access have been installed for the use of Students. The institute has a library consisting of master’s theses and doctorate dissertations along with journals of various institutes and catalogues.Graduates of the institute are eligible for employment at our university, other universities or public institutions. Journal of Health Sciences has been published continuously for 13 years.

INTERNATIONAL RELATİONSHIPS
Our international relationships are issued  on the journal consultancy. Prof.Dr.David Cockayne (0xford Univ. Dept. of Materials) and Dr. Margaret Pratten (Nattingham Univ. Faculty of Medicine) are counseling in the journal of Health Sciences of our institute which is published and pressed 3 times a year.

TERRITORIAL RELATIONSHIP
The Students of our institute are mostly from Kayseri and the other nearer cities. The subjects of thesis are primarily being selected on the territorial problems. One principal and one auxillary educator are invited from other universities in the proficiency and thesis final examinations of the doctorate Students. Some of our Students are having classes in other universities on their fields. The meeting of the institutes of health sciences in Turkey are being held annually and the administors of the institutes attend to these meeting every year. Our institute has organized the VII.th Meeting of the Administors of Institutes of Health Sciences in l995.

STUDENT ADMISSIONS
The number of student quotas and examination dates are announced to inform the candidates who would like to pursue graduate study.

EDUCATION AND INSTRUCTION
Institute of Health Sciences offers master’s and doctorate programs in various areas of study. If a student admitted to a certain program has a different area of undergraduate study, he or she is required to attend a preparatory program prior to beginning the program he or she has been admitted to. Both Master’s and doctorate program Students are allowed to take elective English classes 3 days a week. Students are also allowed to take computer applications class in order to improve their computer skills.

PREPARATORY PROGRAM
It is a pre-master’s program. Students who are admitted to a certain master’s program, but have a different undergraduate area of study are required to successfully complete at least 6 of the courses within this program. The normal duration of study in this program is one semester and the maximum duration of study is two semesters.

MASTER’S PROGRAM
After successfuly completing the minimum duration of  class taking, Students are required to prepare and present a thesis successfully within at least a year in this program.

DOCTORATE PROGRAM
It is a program that requires to prepare and present a dissertation successfully within two years after successfully completing 2 years of classes.

EDUCATION AND INSTRUCTION SERVICES
Most of the lectures within programs are carried out in the classrooms of the institute, while practices’ are carried out in the laboratories of the departments. In the institute there are 8 class-rooms, a meeting room, a library and a conferance hall with a capacity of 110 people, which is shared with other institutes. An internet room has been assigned to the students and research assistants of the institute for literature review and gaining information while their lecture and thesis studies. Computer terminals of the institute are connected to the Data Process Center through network system. Students who meet special conditions are eligible for student loans from Higher Education Loans and Dormitories Institution. Students who are preparing their theses and dissertations are provided financial support by the University Research Fund. Successful students of the institute might be offered research assistanstships. Currently, the institute employs 13 research assistants.

SOCIAL SERVICES PROVIDED TO STUDENTS
Students can benefit from university cafeterias, dormitories of the Loans and Dormitories Institution and get student loans from the same institution. If the students of the institute are successful in the exam and meet special conditions  can work as research assistants during their education in their programs and can also participate in all the social activities carried out within the university.

ACADEMIC STAFF
46Professors, 26 Associate Professors, 45 Assistant Professors and 1 Instructor with a Ph.D comprise teaching staff of the institute. Teaching staff have academic degrees from Erciyes University, other national universities or universities abroad (Nottingham University, Glasgow University, London University, Bristol University, etc.)

PUBLICATIONS
Erciyes University Journal of Health Sciences is published three times a year as the official journal of the Institute of Health Sciences. Manuscripts in Turkish and English are accepted for consideration for publication in the Journal, which has 15 published volumes so far. The Institute has published “Lisansüstü Eğitim ve Öğretim Rehberi (Graduate Education Guide) 1996”, “Yüksek Lisans ve Doktora Tez Özetleri 1984–1997”, “Lisansüstü Eğitim Öğretim Rehberi ve Tez Yazım Kılavuzu 1997”, “Erciyes Üniversitesi Sağlık Bilimleri Enstitüsü Tanıtım Katalogu 2001” Erciyes Üniversitesi Sağlık Bilimleri Enstitüsü Tanıtım Katalogu 2005”

SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITIES
Erciyes University Institute of Health Sciences has organized “Turkish Universities VIIth Meeting of Directors of Institutes of Health Sciences. During this meeting, “The Development of Graduate Education in Health Sciences, The Regulations and Related Problems have been discussed and suggestions have been made. Conferances and seminars are carried out by Academic staff of Erciyes University as well as Academic staff invited from other universities.
